Electronic access

No official version of New Zealand legislation is currently available in electronic form. See Making online legislation official on the New Zealand Legislation website.

The New Zealand Legislation website provides access to Acts, regulations, Bills, and Supplementary Order Papers. See About this site for more information on what the site does and doesn’t provide, how often it is updated, and the status of legislation on the site.

Other electronic sources of legislation

PDF copies of Acts, Statutory Regulations, Bills, and Supplementary Order Papers can be purchased from Legislation Direct.

Printed copies

Acts, Bills, and Statutory Regulations

Printed copies of individual Acts, Bills, Statutory Regulations, and Supplementary Order Papers can be purchased from Legislation Direct or selected retail outlets.

All the Acts passed in a particular year are published in bound volumes of New Zealand Statutes, and all the Statutory Regulations made in a particular year are published in bound volumes of Statutory Regulations. Copies of the bound volumes can be purchased from Legislation Direct or selected retail outlets, and are available at many public libraries.

Some Acts and Statutory Regulations are printed showing all the amendments made to them. These versions are called reprints. Copies of a reprint of an individual Act or Statutory Regulations can be purchased from Legislation Direct or selected retail outlets, and are available at many public libraries.

Other subordinate legislation

Some of this type of legislation is published in the New Zealand Gazette. Copies of the New Zealand Gazette can be purchased from selected retail outlets. Electronic copies are also available at www.gazette.govt.nz.

Requests for access to other subordinate legislation not published in the New Zealand Gazette should be made to the agency responsible for administering the legislation.
